Our Pedal and Paddle events are back for 2017! And this year, we have more options than ever before, with two events focused on water quality monitoring, three that feature tours of historic Morlatton Village and one that takes place at Lock 60 of the Schuylkill Canal. All Pedal & Paddles take place from 9am-2pm on Saturdays, except the June 29 date, which is scheduled for late afternoon and evening.
Take a round trip adventure from Pottstown to Douglassville by participating in one of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area's popular Pedal & Paddle events, held monthly on Saturdays from May to September.

About the Pottstown Pedal & Paddles with Morlatton Tour: Each Pottstown Pedal & Paddle begins with a 4.5 mile bike ride from Pottstown’s Riverfront Park to Historic Morlatton Village in Douglassville, using yellow cruisers from the Bike Pottstown bike share program. Participants take a guided tour of Morlatton Village's four 18th century buildings, including the oldest home in Berks County. From there, they take a short bike ride to Douglassville’s Ganshahawny Park where they eat a boxed lunch or dinner (provided) and receive a brief introduction to kayaking from outfitter Take it Outdoors Adventure Group. Then, they paddle back to Pottstown in kayaks along the Schuylkill River.
About the Pottstown Water Quality Pedal & Paddles: A Montgomery County Conservation District representative will join paddlers on the water and stop midway for macro invertebrate sampling and basic water quality sampling. Participants will learn about areas of environmental concerns along the way such as sedimentation, bank erosion, water flow observations depending on the water conditions. There will be no tour of Morlatton Village on this trip.
About the August 26 Lock 60 Pedal & Paddle at Schuylkill Canal Park: This will consist of a bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail and a kayaking loop that begins on the river and returns via the canal. It will include a guided tour of the canal and Lock Tenders House. Click here to register for the Lock 60 Pedal & Paddle
