Trail Love: Trail Counter Data Show Increases in Trail Use
Authored By: The Circuit Trails | February 27, 2025

Love is soaring in our hearts, around the region, and on the trails, too! According to the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), approximately 1,735,321 cyclists and 2,441,003 pedestrians visited sections of the Circuit Trails network from February to December 2024.
That’s more than four million trips that took place on just a handful of the trails that make up the 415 miles of the Circuit Trails network that are currently open for use. With stats like that, it’s clear that people are loving spending time #OnTheCircuit.
Tracking the Trails You Love
All year, DVRPC collects data along a few of the trails that help form the Circuit Trails network through a set of permanent bicycle and pedestrian counters across the region. The William Penn Foundation and Pennsylvania Environmental Council provided generous support for the counters, and the DVRPC team installed and maintain the equipment on an ongoing basis.
Take advantage of your local trails to see what everyone is loving for yourself. Explore some of our beautiful trails that experienced high activity last year:
