This section of the Delaware River Trail is part of the East Coast Greenway. From Spring Garden St the first section, known as the Penn St Trail, consists of a curb-protected two bike lane and the adjacent sidewalk along Delaware Ave and Penn St to the entrance of the Sugarhouse Casino Trail. The trail then follows the waterfront behind the Sugarhouse Casino property. The current trail ends at Columbus Boulevard and Shackamaxon St. An extension to nearby Penn Treaty Park is in the planning stages.
