Located along the Ulysses Wiggins Waterfront Promenade in New Jersey, this 51-acre park is one of the premier destinations along the Delaware River. There are large, grassy lawns for picnicking, a riverside promenade for strolling and breathtaking views of the Philadelphia skyline. You can find plenty of waterfront attractions to explore too, including the Riverstage, Adventure Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey. Whether you want to enjoy a picnic on the riverfront or go on an adventure, Wiggins Waterfront Park has you covered.

On the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River Trail is Penn Treaty Park! You’ll delight in the open green spaces and fantastic views of the Ben Franklin bridge and want to extend your stay for the history. The park is said to be the site of the historic peace agreement between William Penn and the native Lenape tribe. Today, visitors can picnic with Penn by visiting the commemorative statue located at the park’s entrance.

One of the best stops along the Chester Valley Trail is Exton Park. If you’re not roaming around the park’s 19.1-mile trail or working up a sweat at the volleyball court, you can find beautiful open fields, dense woodlands, scenic wetlands and so much more over the 701 acres that Exton Park encompasses. This large green space is the ideal picnic spot to enjoy with friends or family!
