The Geology of Trenton, Sat., Dec. 13, 9:30 a.m.
Retired Hydrogeologist Pierre Lacombe, who has 34 years of experience with the U.S. Geological Survey and is an active member of the Geological Association of N.J., will regale walkers with information about the rocks of Trenton during the 1.1 mile walk in downtown Trenton. Walkers will learn all about the fascinating geology in and around the City of Trenton as evidenced in many of the historic sites and buildings in the State Capitol Complex, including the Falls of the Delaware, the State Capital, Petty’s Run Archeological Excavation, Thomas Edison State University, the Old Barracks and the Masonic Temple.
Meet at the front lawn of the State Museum at 205 West State Street. Free parking is available on West State Street or in lots adjacent to the museum. After the hike, explore the exhibits at the State Museum (free admission) including the “Written in the Rocks: N.J. Fossil Tales” exhibit on the second level.
