Skippack Trail
The Skippack Trail is a 3.3-mile paved route that travels from the intersection with the popular 19-mile Perkiomen Trail (or Perky as it is known locally) to Thompson Road in the town of Skippack. The trail follows the Skipjack Creek for about a half a mile then heads uphill before reaching open land. There are several street crossing along the way, but the roads are not overly busy. At a fork in the trail follow signs to either take the spur to head towards Skippack Village, where the trail ends at Palmer Park. In town grab a quick bite or wander through the unique shops. Heading in the other direction, find Evansburg State Park near the trail’s end (note that the trail ends at Thompson Road just outside of the park – head left on the road to reach the entrance). At Evansburg State Park enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities including horseback riding, hiking on over 6-miles of trails or mountain biking on a 5-mile trail. Sections of the Skippack do provide shade, but large portions are exposed to the sun. For more details about this trail, links to other trails and information about the charming town of Skippack, refer to the township’s helpful website.
