May is National Bike Month, a time to celebrate the many benefits of bicycling across communities. Whether you ride for fun, fitness or everyday transportation, this month is all about enjoying the journey and the safe, connected paths that make it possible.

Join us outside #OnTheCircuit all month long and explore over 415 miles of trails throughout the Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region!

Tips for Bike Safety

Before you get pedaling, brush up on a few best practices to help keep yourself and everyone around you feeling safe and comfortable on your rides

  1. Check your gear – Inspect your brakes, tires, lights, locks and chain on your bike to ensure you have a smooth ride.
  1. Wear a helmet – Make sure it is fitted properly to protect your head and is not out of date. Experts agree that helmets should be replaced every 3-5 years, depending on usage, exposure to sunlight and other elements that can degrade the materials.
  1. Stay visible – Wear bright or reflective colors, especially in the dark, to be seen on the trails and in bike lanes.
  1. Control your speed – Ride at a safe speed, especially if the trail is crowded.
