One of the smallest segments of the Circuit can be found in the town of Merchantville, N.J. At just 1.5 miles in length the trail may not be long, but it is a well-loved and well used route by cyclists, joggers and walkers. Start at Cove Road and East Chestnut Avenue and continue along to Euclid Avenue along part of a former Pennsylvania Railroad corridor. Enjoy a tranquil passage with large trees that provide cooling shade on a hot day, see historic sites such as the Niagara Firehouse and the Merchantville train station, and even visit the farmer’s market on Saturdays in warmer months near Centre Street.

The town of Merchantville was founded in 1874 as a hamlet from which people commuted to nearby Philadelphia and contains a number of well-preserved Victorian-era homes, charming tree-lined streets, and beautiful gardens in its historic borough and downtown area. The Merchantville Bike Path, with its flat, tree-lined route, and diversions in the town itself, offers a perfect destination for a family-friendly outing. The route does not currently connect to trails on the Circuit but will eventually link to the proposed Burlington-Camden Trail, which links to the Dudley Grange Path and is part of the Camden Greenway.
