Chester Valley Trail

The Chester Valley Trail is a 19.13-mile trail and is a part of the Circuit Trails network, a system of multi-use trails in the Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region that when finished will include more than 850 miles of trails.

State: Pennsylvania

Location: Chester and Montgomery counties

Trail Length: 19.13 miles complete in multiple sections from Norristown to Exton. When complete, the trail will be more than 45 miles.

Surface: Asphalt

Status: Open for use

Getting to the Trail

Parking and Public Transportation Options

Parking is available at 270 Indian Run St. (Exton).

If you are taking public transportation, the trail can be accessed from SEPTA’s Regional Rail Paoli/Thorndale Line, Norristown Line or SEPTA 125 bus route.

Follow the old railway corridor of the Chester Valley Railroad, a branch of the Reading Railroad, through scenic countryside in Chester and Montgomery counties. See remnants of the historic route in the form of stone culverts, explore a local park and keep your eyes open for abundant wildlife that live in the nearby wetlands.
