For this route, our friends at REI join us as we review the ongoing development of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, and also enjoy a cycle ride along the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Lawrence Township, NJ. This route will be on-street some of the time, and portions of these trail surfaces are crushed-gravel, so you may not want to bring a bicycle with very skinny tires on this particular ride. The route will cover roughly 16 miles, out-and-back.
Better health may just be a walk in the park. Enjoy an even bigger boost to naturel mind-body benefits of walking by doing it outdoors. Each guided walk will begin with a gentle physical warm-up provided by a fitness professional. See www.AbbottMarshlands.org for the full monthly schedule. Free.
This week's route will take us along the wooded Cobbs Creek Trail and we'll talk about its further planned development. Then we'll head on-street to head over and visit the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, where our friends there will chat with us about their work. This ride will assemble at 10:00am, in deference to the summer's heat, and the route will cover about 14 miles, out-and-back.

This week's route will showcase the Tacony Creek, a hidden gem in bustling Northeast Philadelphia. Our friends from the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership will join us to discuss the ongoing development of this trail, including the newly-constructed connector which takes the trail beneath Roosevelt Boulevard. The route will cover roughly 8 miles, out-and-back.
This week's route will follow the delightful Pennypack Trail, mostly in Montgomery County although we will review the trail's ongoing development into Bucks County. The trail's northward continuation has met with some political resistance, but on this ride we will review how it successfully proceeds southward & allows for many miles of wonderful outdoor enjoyment -- all the way to the Delaware River, in fact! Our route will only cover about 12 miles, out-and-back.
