My Circuit Trails: Lisa’s Experience

Many deciding factors came into play when Lisa Brenner decided to move from Villanova, Pennsylvania to Delanco, New Jersey. But one benefit that sold her on her current community nearly three years ago was the promise of the Rancocas Creek Greenway Trail just steps away from her front door.

The Newton’s Landing section of the Rancocas Creek Greenway Trail, which opened in September 2022, is a paved 2.23-mile segment extending from Amico Island in Delran to Pennington Park in Delanco. When complete, the Rancocas Creek Greenway Trail will extend from the Delaware River to the Ocean County Border.

“It’s a small piece of what eventually will be along the whole Rancocas Creek,” Lisa said. “This is the first completed part and a lot of people don’t know about it. It matches up to [Pennington Park] about a mile down the road, and I wish more people knew about it because it really is a great place.”

The Rancocas Creek Greenway is just one trail in of more than 411-mile Circuit Trails network in the Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region.

Lisa takes advantage of the trail being in her backyard and typically goes for walks throughout each season. The route is lined with large trees, offering cooling shade on hot summer days and spectacular sights when the leaves start to change in the fall. One of her favorite things to do is dog sit for her friends, and when she does, she often takes the dogs to the trail.

“Being outside and being on the trails sort of gives you a sense of calm and takes me away from thinking about work or any other things I have to do. And every time I come down here, I’m always sorry I don’t come down here more. I should really make it a daily thing because I enjoy it so much.”
